| | Mar 24, 2011 | CASE STUDY IN CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY "Magnets" Big Magnet Brooch 3 Esther Knobel notes: Born in Poland in 1949, Ms. Knobel emigrated with her family to Israel in 1950. Having received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, Knobel went on to receive her Master of Fine Arts degree from The Royal College of Art, London. The recipient of numerous awards, including the Alix de Rothschild Foundation Prize for Jewelry Design (Israel, 1986) and the Andrea Bronfman Prize for the Arts (Israel, 2007), the artist's work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh, the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, and the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, among others. Ms. Knobel currently lives and works in Jerusalem. Knobel's work has been shown internationally in numerous solo, joint, and group exhibitions, and received much acclaim due to its content, use of materials, and processes, which have always been highly idiosyncratic.
