Autarchy Bottle

These vessels are inspired by the Sicilian "Festa di San Giuseppe" (St. Joseph's Day Festival), a festival that culminates in a highly theatrical yet profoundly religious feast in which the table is set with flowers, pastries, breads crafted into fantastic shapes and other Sicilian delicacies. The name "Autarchy" was chosen by the designers for this project to suggest a historical and autonomous way of living, proposing a hypothetical scenario wherein a community imposes a self-inflicted embargo: nature is personally cultivated, harvested and processed not only for the purpose of feeding the inhabitants, but also to make tools and other human necessities.
